A
stay at High Winds Bed & Breakfast is country living at its
finest. An 1800's farmhouse on a working dairy farm, it is the only
bed & breakfast in the town of Swanton.
Earl and Susan
Fournier put an emphasis on treating their guests as they would a
member of their family with kindness and care. Earl's great
grandmother purchased the farm in 1911, and ran it with her family,
including the son and daughter-in-law who eventually took it over,
Adhemar and Leopoldine Fournier. Thus, Earl and Susan are the fourth
generation of the Fournier family to farm the land and live in the
house. They share with their guests a live-long knowledge of the area
and their respect for the land.
The first floor bedroom
welcomes all guests into its comfort and familial setting. Decorated
with colonial furniture and antiques, you will refresh in the private
bath and relax in the adjoining living room. In addition, a loft suite
with private bath has now been added.
Susan understands that
people who choose to travel the bed and breakfast circuit look for, "
hearty, well-cooked breakfasts, and comfortable accommodations,"
so when you awake bring a healthy appetite to the table. You'll enjoy
a fabulous, farm fresh breakfast, beginning with a seasonal fruit cup
as the appetizer to a choice of three entrees served with Vermont
cured ham, and of course fresh Vermont maple syrup. Top the meal off
with home baked muffins, coffee and tea. Bottled water is provided in
your room, and upon arriving in the afternoon your welcome will
include a beverage and a suggested restaurant for dinner.
