Built in 1997-98, Old Mulberry Inn sets the standard for upscale lodging in the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas. Owners Donald and Gloria Degn have filled the spacious inn, which is modeled after an antebellum Louisiana plantation home, with eclectic furnishings gathered from the Carolinas to California. Doors from a landmark Carmel hotel open to the five guestrooms, each with its own distinctive decor and theme, and each executed with West Coast flair.

The inn has been featured in Southern Living, Country magazine, the Dallas Morning News, Texas Highways magazine, and was one of three inns in Texas selected for a recent Houston Chronicle article about B&Bs. "This classy five-room inn stands apart,'' wrote the Chronicle's travel editor.
