Maison-Bayou is located on the ancient riverbed of the Big Cypress, in the midst of 55 wooded acres, yet is only a short walk or moments drive to the center of Historic Downtown Jefferson. The main house is an authentic reproduction of an 1850's Plantation Overseer's House, which features Heart of Pine floors, pine walls and ceilings, natural gas burning lanterns in each room, and period antiques and fabrics.

Architecturally styled after authentic Slave Quarter Cabins, guests can relax with total privacy. Each cabin mixes primitive furnishings, soft, comfortable fabrics and the modern conveniences of today to provide a perfect blend. Cabins 1 through 3 feature a claw foot tub with brass hand-held shower, while Cabin 4 offers a large, handicapped accessible stand-up shower. Yes, each cabin features indoor toilets (old fashioned pull chain), EACH CABIN IS LOCATED ON THE CYPRESS ALLIGATOR POND, WITH FULL VIEW

The most authentically reproduced example of a slave quarter cabin from the Cypress shake shingle roof, high pitched ceiling, rich wood walls and heart of pine floors. The hand-made four poster bed is full size and features a hand-made quilt. Rockers wait for you to relax in front of a crackling fire in your wood-burning fireplace. Other furnishings include a primitive cedar armoire and pine table (perfect for a game of dominoes). Wooden barrels and old lanterns add to the charm and atmosphere. THE GOLDEN ERA OF RADIO awaits you. Pass the time listening to classic old time radio shows. This cabin also features a back deck, pier, dock and rowboat exclusively for this cabin. (Firewood is provided a seasonally for a 2-3 hr fire. Guests are welcome to bring Duraflame type logs or firewood if they know they will desire a longer time with the fireplace.) This cabin accommodates up to 2 people.

Enjoy luxurious lodging literally OVER the water. Sleep in the comfort of a Queen Size Sleigh bed, and relax downstairs on the bow under the cool breeze of a ceiling fan. Climb the spiral staircase to the pilothouse and go outside to view a Cypress Pond vista. Stretch out for a sunbathe on the sundeck.
