The Historic Kuebler-Waldrip Haus property was first owned by Francois
Guilbeau, a French-born wine merchant who is credited with saving the diseased
French vineyards with mustang grape vine cuttings that come from this property.
The original limestone structure, built in 1847 by Angreas & Katherine Pape
of Hanover, Germany, was later the home of Willie & Olga Kraft &
family. In 1974, Margaret & Larry Waldrip and their 3 sons, Dibrell, Darell
and David began lovingly restoring the home.
The original rock house has walls ranging in thickness of 17" to 23".
The added rocks during the restoration of 1980 included original rocks from the
Comal County Jail House and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The church is
still in operation. The big rock in front of the fireplace was the main front
step into the old jail house. The building has a total of 6 bedrooms, 6 private
baths, some with porches and kitchens, a wonderful view, and accommodate a
maximum of 16 people.
Our delicious hearty country candlelight breakfast is included in our room
rates and may consist of juice, fresh fruit, meat, homemade breads (muffins,
corn bread, rolls or cinnamon rolls), egg dishes (scrambled, fried, cream
cheese eggs with chives, or Brunch Eggs & Green Chilies), hash brown
potatoes (flavored with wonderful onions, salt and black pepper, and a touch of
garlic), Southern grits, and/or pancakes topped with fresh fruit, butter,
syrup, nuts & whipped cream!
