Mansfield
Plantation has opened to the public for the first time in its 275-year
history as a Bed & Breakfast Country Inn. The Plantation is listed
on the National Register of Historic Places and has been called "the
most architecturally intact plantation in Georgetown County."
Mansfield is one of few surviving southern estates that offers guests
the opportunity to experience an authentic, pre-Civil War plantation
first-hand by "spending the night."
Once the
exclusive haunt of artistocrats, Mansfield Plantation is open to
discriminating guests who enjoy comfort, quiet relaxation and romance.
The simplicity of the plantation house's exterior betrays its elegant,
high-style interior. Public rooms are furnished with the owners'
collections of 19th century American antiques: paintings, china,
silver, furniture and books.
Guests enjoy relaxing on the
19th century brick terrace (designed in the shape of a palm leaf),
walking and biking in the woods, picnicking on the expansive lawns,
relaxing in a hammock or swings, and boating on the Black River.
Make Mansfield Plantation exclusively yours for your special
occasion. When you reserve Mansfield's guest houses, there is no
public whatsoever to intrude on your festivities. The guest houses
provide overnight accommodations for up to 16 adults, perfect for
wedding parties or your out-of-town guests.
