WindDancers,
a new and unique bed & breakfast lodging & eight year old
llama trekking company, is set in a peaceful and secluded 270 acre
tract of wilderness mountain land with woodland trails, llama-scaped
pastures, and meandering streams sheltering a complete watershed.
It
consists of three contemporary log buildings containing nine spacious
guest accommodations and a choice of many exotic, ethnic decors. Each
has bright, colorful rooms with high beamed ceilings, tubs for two
with separate showers, down comforters, fireplaces, comfortable lounge
areas with VCRs and abundant ceiling fans. Each has a large deck
complete with the required log rocking chairs plus superb breathtaking
mountainviews. In the distance we can view nine ridges of the Smoky
Mountains and up close you can see our llama herds in the surrounding
pastures.
Our Maple Lodge opened in December, 1998. It is
made up of Casa Mexico, Casa Santa Fe and Camp Kodiak. Casa Mexico is
a taste of Old Mexico. Bright colors, unique folk art, rich Kilim
rugs, and hand crafted Mexican furniture speak of a culture that says:
relax, slow down, enjoy the beauty of life. Manana! (Queen bed and
loveseat sleeper)
Llamas were domesticated by the Inca
Indians in the Andean highlands of Peru and Bolivia 4000 to 5000 years
ago. They were the primary beasts of burden used for transporting
goods to build the ancient Inca Empire. These fascinating animals are
still a very important part of South American Culture. Today they are
finding their way across trails in the United States and Canada
carrying loads for backcountry travelers. |
