Chesapeake
Wood Duck Inn is an AWARD winning victorian bed and breakfast on
Tilghman Island. Originally designed in 1890 as a boarding house
during the heyday of the steamboats, the Inn later functioned as a
bordello and more recently as a waterman's family residence. The Inn
has been elegantly restored and appointed to offer you intimate,
gracious accommodations in an atmosphere that evokes the warmth and
charm of the Island.
Chesapeake Wood Duck Inn has 6
meticulously restored, beautifully appointed guest rooms and one two
room suite. All are furnished in fine antiques, original art and
unique treasures. All guest rooms offer a private bath and guest
controlled heat and air conditioning. Yours may have a breathtaking
view of the water.
You can do as little or as much as you
desire. Relax with a cool drink on the sun porch and watch the boats
go by or spend a winter day curled up with a good book by a crackling
fire.
You'll feel pampered among the period antiques,
stunning oriental rugs and original artwork. Chesapeake Wood Duck Inn
is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Its spacious lawn
stretching to the water's edge offers a classic setting for weddings
and intimate gatherings.
Tilghman Island only three square
miles, is easily accessible yet remote enough to properly stem the
tide of everyday cares. When you cross over the drawbridge you'll be
greeted by the nineteenth century charm of a true waterman's village.
You can stroll to several shops and restaurants on the Island.
Nearby
historic St. Michaels offers a variety of boutiques, restaurants and
is home to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Visit historic Oxford
and take a ride on the Oxford Bellevue Ferry. In nearby Dorchester
County visit the Blackwater National Wildlife refuge.
