The
Candleberry Inn is located on Olde Kings Highway (Route 6A) in the
heart of Brewster, an historic sea captains' town on the quiet north
side of Cape Cod. The 250-year-old house, situated on 1 1/2 private
landscaped acres, is a five-minute walk to the beaches. Antique shops,
galleries, and dining establishments are all within walking distance
from the Inn.
The carefully restored Georgian house was the
former residence of Dr. George Copeland, onetime Brewster Town
Moderator and State Senator, and also of clipper ship captain Frank B.
Foster. The building has been operating as an Inn since 1945. Changes
under successive innkeepers have combined the home's historic charm
with the comforts of today.
Wide floor boards, original
glass with "bubbles and waves," wainscoting, and oriental
carpets can be found throughout the Inn. Our six large sunny guest
rooms, all with private baths, are comfortably elegant, with antiques
and family heirlooms. Fireplaces in three rooms and a two-room suite
offer a variety of room selections. To ensure the comfort of your
stay, all guest rooms are air conditioned and offer you the use of
terry cloth robes, hair dryers and toiletries.
Antique china
and silver flatware complement the full gourmet breakfast served daily
in the dining room, the oldest room in the Inn. On warm summer
mornings, guests may choose to dine outdoors on the brick porch, with
full view of the garden. We might tempt you with fluffy pumpkin
pancakes, eggs florentine or other delectable entrees, all served with
home-baked goods and fresh fruit. A variety of cereal and toast breads
are also always available, and you'll find a plentiful supply of fruit
juice, coffee and tea to start your day.
