Kilauea Lodge is located in the quiet village of Volcano one mile Hilo-side of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The park, home of Hawaii's active volcano Kilauea, offers miles of scenic overlook and trails. Endangered birds - the nene, i'iwi and amakihi - make their home in and near the park.

The Lodge, built as a YMCA camp in 1938, now serves the community as a popular country inn and restaurant. Albert and Lorna Jeyte purchased the property in 1986 and welcomed their first guest 15 months later. Locally raised, Lorna taught school before making a mid-life switch to innkeeping. German born Albert an Emmy winning make-up artist, and Lorna bought the property on their honeymoon.

In addition to the national park, the volcano area offers golf, a winery, artists studios, and bird watching. Hilo town, 27 miles away, is a step back in time. Storefronts dating from sugar plantation days line the old waterfront streets. Inside small shops specializing in local products sell their wares.

Farmers' Market lures visitors down to sample island fruits and other produce on Wednesday and Saturday mornings….one of the highlights of a Hilo day.
