We
offer a perfect spot to relax, unwind and enjoy the many recreational
opportunities the beautiful Comox Valley has to offer. From skiing the
local mountains in the morning to golfing championship golf courses or
sport fishing in the afternoon.
Wellington House was built
in 1992. Due to an unusual lot size and shape our home is a very
unique design. Shaped like a fan and built on a slope, it has a very
unassuming front giving way to an elaborate two storey design at the
rear.
A large upper deck that looks out onto the garden and
the wild park faces south to south west and has lots of sunshine for
those who like to tan. The awning which covers the main lounge windows
provide shade for those that do not enjoy too much sun. The lower
patio is covered and cloistered and is a favorite place for guests to
sit and enjoy the vista of the beautifully landscaped, multi-leveled
garden. Many perennial flowers, and flowering shrubs provide constant
colour and perfume. In the evening the evening scented stocks waft
their fragrance to those sitting outside. During the summer of 1997, a
grape arbour and private sitting area was added to the garden. A quiet
spot to have morning coffee overlooking the roses. Located in the
lower garden is the original weigh scale from the mining days which is
being prepared for a sunken garden.
Guests enjoy a full
breakfast in the huge country kitchen, with Doug cooking his gourmet
specialties. If the weather is hot, breakfast can be served out on the
upper deck, where guests can enjoy the many species of birds that
frequent the bird feeders in the garden. The Blue Jays love to call
out, especially if their food supply has not been replenished. In
addition to the birds, deer, black bear and the occasional nocturnal
raccoon that have been seen in the park at the back of the house.
