Welcome to the Windbreak, the Best Small Cafe / Hotel / Bar in the State! The Windbreak has been in these parts since 1981 and was started by Bob Andres (nickname: "Bob Trout") and Dallas Wymore.

Let's start with our food. It's homestyle cookin' with Alaska size portions! We are known for our scrumptious slow roasted Prime Rib and our delicious hand dipped Halibut Fish and Chips. We are also known for our famous omelets with the best breakfasts in this part of the North! Hungry for lunch? Forget those fast food joints; try our Hand Made Hamburgers that will make your mouth water! We feature daily lunch and dinner specials also. They are all here in the many lakes and rivers in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The Windbreak is the meeting place for local fishing enthusiasts, why even our lounge is called "Trout's Place".
