Welcome to Gwin's Lodge, one of Alaska's few remaining traditionally built log
roadhouse lodges. Located along the banks o f the Upper Kenai River in historic
Cooper Landing, Gwin's Lodge is a Kenai Peninsula landmark. Built with Spruce
logs from the surrounding Chugach Natio nal Forest in 1952, Pat and Helen Gwin
cut, hauled, cured, and handpeeled the logs in true Alaskan pioneer fashion.
This historic lodge and it's surrounding log cabins were restored to their
original condition in 1995.
For nearly a half a century, Gwin's Lodge has been a rest haven and central hub
for travelers while enjoying the wide variety of outdoor recreation activities
on the beautiful and bountiful Kenai Peninsula. Abundant wildlife and Alaskan
flora abound in nearby forests while the aqua, glacial waters of the Kenai
River and the gin clear waters of the Russian River that flank Gwin's Lodge
host t he most productive Sockeye (Red) Salmon sport fishery on Earth as well
as the finest road accessible Rainbow Trout fishery in Alaska. Two of Alaska's
finest hiking by-ways, the Resurrection and Russian Lakes Trails, eac h have a
trailhead within a mile of Gwin's Lodge.
Gwin's exclusive 24 hours/day operating hours during the Red Salmon season
(June 11 - August 20) makes it the Upper Kenai's u ndisputed outdoor recreation
headquarters. Gwin's full array of services includes it's world renown log
roadhouse restaurant & bar, rustic yet comfortable log cabins/cottages,
